Jeet Kune Do was founded in the 1960's by the late Bruce Lee. Although he never intended the Art to have a name, he still wanted to seperate principles and philosophy so people can see the difference. Unfortunately even 30 years after Lee's passing, many have mis-interpreted the training, therefore creating their own personal expression based on books, pictures, and movies Lee appeared in. The principles that make interception work in JKD provide a philosophical foundation so you have an understanding beyond physical limitations. This of course is the goal of Jeet Kune Do rather than always trying to prove yourself through competition, debates or throwing together techniques.
Lee had several students througout his lifetime that understood his approach to Interception. One student remains loyal in this approach and has the life force to prove it. This student is none other than world renowned JKD Instructor, Jerry Poteet.
Octavio Quintero has trained hard most of his life to achieve a state of self-expression and he continues to do so with Jerry Poteet. As a senior student and instructor, Octavio is constantly growing not only in martial arts but as an individual. Spending countless hours training with Jerry and in his personal time he rountinely excercises to maintain strength, endurance, and most importantly good health. In addtion to his workouts, he drives pure focus, surpassing levels in all ranges of combat. Octavio has a full understanding of sensitivity training that many come to appreciate and has learned to apply speed, power and agility through JKD's Five ways of Attack which include Bruce Lee's Modified Boxing & Wing Chun. Octavio is not only known as a great Instructor applying everything he has been taught to teaching but also naturally uses Gung Fu JKD principles to his daliy life.
